You can also utilize Colorless Pokémon like Farfetch'd to come out of the game swinging. Farfetch'd can deal 40 damage per turn for just one energy. This means you can stall for a turn or two with Farfetch'd while getting Gengar ex set up for attack. Other Colorless possibilities include the Pidgeot line or Tauros.
