The 39 best bridges in Mostar (2024)

The Mostar Old Bridge is a historic arch bridge that spans the Neretva River in the city's old town. It was built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, and has been a popular tourist destination for centuries. In 1993, it was destroyed by Croatian forces during the Bosnian War. A UNESCO-led initiative resulted in its successful reconstruction, which opened to pedestrians in 2004.

Beautiful restoration of the original Ottoman bridge from the 1500s. You will find many tourists and shops in this area. Its definitely worth checking out and taking a picture of it! The river neretva that runs by it is absolutely beautiful and amazing! Bosnia is one of the few places in Europe where the nature it self will leave you with an awe inspiring feeling. Go see it for yourself! Highly recommend!

It was an amazing experience to be there and understand the war that just happened there couple decades ago and appreciate the environment and the beauty of the bridge. Hope no more wars because ı would be sad if this place wasnt here. Overall small place but filled with history, I would recommend going into the museums next to the bridge

I was glad to finally visit Old bridge/Stari Most. We got there late in night with most stores and restaurants already closed and feeling was mesmerizing walking through what looked alike old city. During the daytime we witnessed true beauty of Bridge.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. We only went here as an add on trip, but it ended up being out favourite excursion. The architecture is stunning, and walking through the bazaar of Most is also a fantastic experience. It's worth stopping for food in one of the restaurants that overlook the river and the bridge. There are also free drinking fountains where you can fill up bottles of water.

Scenic views, feels like you are still living in Ottoman era. Lovely area to stroll around, eat cevapi, have coffee and do some shopping.

An interesting landmark you should definitely visit. Be careful when crossing the bridge, as it can be a bit slippery.I highly recommend taking the boat ride. It costs €10 per person.

The most beautiful landmark in Mostar and the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina. The vibe is just amazing The people very kind and you can have awesome lights to take pictures on the sunset. Just awesome. Beautiful old bridge in Mostar. It can become quite crowded so try to go there earlier. We were there during the morning, throughout the day and the night. However, we recommend going there earlier to enjoy the view and peace. During the day and evening, you should probably enjoy shops on both sides.

It was 1 day trip to Mostar. Unfortunately bridge was destroyed during war and fortunately fully reconstructed. Still it is a symbol of this city and it's a nice experience to go from one side of river to another. Entire country is beautiful and not so popular as Croatia, so we need to come back and see more in this country.

Being main attraction of Mostar, this beautiful bridge attracts lot of tourists. It gets very busy during the day with many souvenir shops and small food joints on both sides of the road. There are many restaurants at waterfront. Also, there are museums nearby for anyone interested in history. From parking, it’s almost 15 minutes walk.Consider visiting it once if you are in Bosnia.

Beautiful town with breathtaking views, lots of little restaurants, gift shops, and traditional architecture no hassle from locals trying to sell you things very relaxed.

Ein tolles Erlebnis steht Jeden bevor.(Translated by Google)Fantastically beautiful city, a city full of eventful history with such loving, nice people that we got to know. You should not only visit the hotspots, but also walk through the other streets, where you can still clearly see the terrible years of the war.A great experience awaits everyone.

Beautiful Ottoman bridge, declared symbol of reconciliation by the UNESCO. Collapsed in 1993 and reconstructed in 2004. It is a tradition for the young men of the town to take the plunge from the 24 meter high bridge into the icy cold Neretva river below

Awesome stone bridge in Mostar. War damaged but many countries help fixed it, here is most popular visit in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Many tourists, around bridge many restaurants and gifts shop.

The most famous place in Mostar. Very small bridge full of tourists. I do not recommend for families with small children and trolleys because the surface is not flat. The view? Incredible🫶❤️👍🏻The atmosphere? Amazing❤️A lot of small shops and bazaars.Honestly speaking- must have to see⭐️👍🏻☀️

This famous old bridge was constructed during the Ottoman era. It was one of its kind, designed by the great architect Sinan and implemented by his student. It has a magnificent view in the valley. Mountains are on both side.

Abdulkadir E — Google review

Definitely a crowded area full of tours. Not sure I can really recommend a visit unless you’re really into trinket shopping as the streets of old town are just lined with trinket shops. The Baklava here that I got was fantastic.

This is my all time favorite destination. I have visited this impeccable bridge 3 times - 1998, 2017, 2024. It has very sentimental and touching feelings inside me for the residents of Mostar. The residents are friendly, kind and warm at hearts. The Stari Most is absolutely stunning!

Bridge and area is scenic and unique. If you are in the right season you can see trained people jumping in the river from this 10-story bridge like it's the most casual thing in the world! Or even see the competitions sometime in summer. The only problem - it is filled with so many vendors that put out their merch for half of the already narrow street. It's really hard to traverse, and sometimes you have to wait for crowds of people to pass.

Beautiful and historic surroundings around this ottoman bridge. There is nothing that can compare. Unmatched in its beauty.Plenty of shops and paths to wander around.

Haroon B — Google review

Historic bridge, good to visit when it's not very crowded. You need to be careful about your belongings.

A very old bridge, destroyed during the war and rebuilt consecutively as it is the image of the city of Mostar, which was named after the bridge itself. It divides the two religious faces of the city, Islamic and Christian, the surrounding area is as beautiful as the bridge and the river is quite clean, I saw people jumping off a platform and someone fishing near the riverbed. Nice piece of history

A place that everyone must visit. For me much more important and valuable than Sarajevo regarding the history and the natural beauty. It can be a nice stop on your way, probably you need a couple of hours, not more. If you are lucky enough, you can even see the youngsters jumping from the bridge.

Beautiful bridge , made in 16 th century. Destroyed in the civil bar but got built in 2004 to the same old architectural style. Beautiful bazar with pebbled streets around the bridge with great souvenir shops and abundant eateries. The bridge is in Mostar town in Bosnia 90 minutes drive from Dubronik. Churches, mosque are nearby. The souvenir shops and the bazaar looks is a great delight to walk through.

Alok K — Google review

A must-visit place if you are in Bosnia. I have visited this bridge several times and I can say that visiting it outside the tourist season was the best time. You won't enjoy the beauty of this place while it's crowded and people pushing you around.

Mashael — Google review

The bridge is very interesting beautifully colored water and all these streets around to walk around to see, very nice.Lots of tourists.Everything was super except one, businessmen who ride on boats. Standing with their umbrella spoil the photos below. Also pollute the river with emissions always where I was not in opposition to this!

Denis K — Google review

Cute scenery, specially during sunset. Please beware of the stairs as they are slippery. Many people visit during late spring-end of summer so if you want to avoid the crowd, I suggest to come here during April-May or Sept-Oct. There are lots of options to ear in the surrounding area, with beautiful views.

Igggy B — Google review

Incredible views. The river has a gorgeous teal effect with other shades of blue. The Old Bridge makes for a fantastic afternoon with local vendors selling items. There are some hidden gems here!

Andrew P — Google review

Really pretty bridge. It had been rebuilt to look like the original bridge. It's quite hard to walk over, as it's slippery, but they've put stops in to help with that.Everyday, trained divers walk around collecting donations, and when they reach 50 euros, somebody jumps. It's very dangerous, and they don't allow foreigners who haven't had their training course jump off.

Maggie C — Google review

Stunning bridge and beautiful town. We got a slightly over priced rubber boat 'tour' which was actually great and I do recommend it to see the bridge from below

Ella J — Google review

Must-see in Mostar. The name of the gate keeper is called “Mostara” which became the origin of the town name. Worth visiting with a local guide to deeply understand, especially the situation of the war.

Taichi S — Google review

What a gorgeous location. Plenty of great restaurants, bars, gift shops and a few museums. Most are cash only but plenty ATMs around. Watched the bridge divers for a while. Awesome work.

Andrew M — Google review

Lovely bridge with so much history attached. Can be a bit slippery so be careful. Looks even more beautiful from the river.

Ankur S — Google review

Great stay! The old bridge is beautiful. It was destroyed during the Bosnian War and reconstructed afterward. The people are kind and welcoming. I would highly recommend visiting and having lunch with a view of this beautiful bridge.

Mirel S — Google review

One of the most iconic bridges. The history about the bridge is still impressive. I definitely wanna come back sometime. Thanks for those beautiful light while I stayd.

Excellent 👌A wonderful city where you will enjoy the collision of architecture, Ottoman, European, post-communist, etc. You will enjoy dishes that mostly have a strong touch with Ottoman cuisine...very tasty!!! And of course the old UNESCO heritage bridge 🔝🎉

Zoran D — Google review

The city is charming , calm and peaceful but in the afternoon lots of people want to go old city especially Mostar Bridge so be prepared for crowded. Like most of places in Bosnia there are so many graveyard that included so many pains. Its a little bit pricey but you should go to the genocide museum. The last recommendation is having breakfast near the river towards to the bridge🙏

Faruk — Google review

I loved it when I went there! But the only problem is that its busy sometimes. But its a great tourist attraction and beatiful photos too! 4 stars!!

Rejan — Google review

Great place to visit… nice restaurants and shops along both sides of the walkway… it is recommended to avoid weekends and middle of the day times as it could get very busy
